In addition to the external grind adjustment ring, the Opus uses an internal fine adjustment. For espresso, you should start at the lower end of the external adjustment and, if necessary, fine-tune internally to precisely hit the shot time and flow.
Often, it's due to overly large grind adjustment steps without fine-tuning, or static electricity. Use the internal adjustment and, if necessary, a slight RDT (Ross Droplet Technique – a few drops of water) to improve consistency.
Yes – especially with the blow-out feature, it works well for single dosing. For maximum precision, it is recommended to weigh the bean quantity precisely.
